how better to spend a sunday morning than helping to produce some pancham babies? what an odd task, but life can be odd at times.

matias stands outside the local daycare, ready to get this assignment underway.

"uh..."

but he quickly realizes he knows close to nothing about pangoros. are they aggressive? territorial? lovely?

he turns to his assigned partner who he's yet to make introductions with.

"do you know how to get started?"

Elinor took in the view of the Pokémon daycare. An assignment had seen it fit to send her here as the daycare seemed to have some problems making the Pangoro’s reproduce. Given she lacked any knowledge on the matter, she found it weird why the league thought her suitable for the job, but who was she to deny the money or the experience.

She looked towards the partner who had yet to introduce himself. “I am afraid I do not.” She spoke, giving a small shake of the head as well. “My knowledge on the mating habits of the Pangoro is sorely lacking.” She admitted. She gave the man a quick once over. While his appearance meant little to her it was an old habit from back when she frequented finer establishments.

Her appearance would probably tell the same tale her words did. Given she had shown up, not in a suit this time luckily, but still a black brand-jacket, nice formfitting jeans of the same brand. The only thing suggesting that she was somewhat aware that there might’ve been manual labor involved was the fact her long pink hair was tightly tied into a bun, and the black fanny pack upon her side with six Pokéballs attached. “I was hoping you would be more knowledgeable on the matter, Mister?...” She hadn’t gotten his name yet and figured this was a good way of getting him to introduce himself first.

he loses his train of thought, attention pulled away by the roar of a pangoro. it's clearly frustrated at not being able to fornicate. again, he doesn't quite know how to help.

A quick nod was her only response to his comment. Yeah, they were truly totally unqualified for this job. At least the guy introduced himself. “It’s nice to meet you as well!” She responded politely. “My name is Elinor.” She introduced herself, before turning her attention to the roaring Pangoro.

“But yeah I wonder why they won’t reproduce.” Elinor commented, though it seemed more directed at herself than as a question for Matias. “That one certainly seems in the mood.” Even Elinor could see and hear how frustrated it was.

“Maybe the issue lies with the other one?” She glanced at Matias to see if he had any input to be made.

"yeah. doesn't seem too keen."

he hums in thought, understanding that this is way out of his element. so, he shrugs and offers the first idea that comes to mind.

"i have two pangoros myself. we could see if they spark a reaction of any kind?"

Elinor looked towards the other Pangoro. Like Matias she got the idea that it wasn’t exactly excited for the prospect of reproduction. She looked thoughtful for a second, as she pondered the inner workings of the Pokémon. It was then Matias made a reasonable suggestion, one she might very well have made herself had she been the owner of a Pangoro.

“Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.” She nodded acknowledging the validity of Matias’s plan. “Though, they probably ought to be prepared for a fight just in case either one of them – “ She gestures towards the Daycare Pangoro as she speaks. “ – turns aggressive.”

She nodded as Matia’s asked the question. “I know a thing or two about battling, but I am not a professional.” She retrieved two Pokéballs. She held one in each hand. One of them contained her Kommo-o, the other her Fletchinder.

“I am ready when you are.” She stated her attention moved from Matias and onto the Pangoro, ready and awaiting their reaction to whenever Matias did his thing.

not a professional is good enough in his books, at least for this particular assignment. for the overarching conflict in hoenn and the inevitable war to come, however?

"let's do it."

two pokeballs pop open, revealing his two pangoros who are quick to take in their surroundings. a look of confusion washes over their expressions, however, because the two are used to being called out to battle.

this is something new to them, apparently.

"it's coming!"

unfortunately, not in the way they need it to.

Elinor readied herself as Matias proclaimed that they would begin. She kept each ball in her hand ready to pop open at the mere inkling that the Daycare Pangoro intended to partake in battling.

And unfortunately for her, while she was no Pangoro biologist, the way their intended Pangoro seemed to behave did not imply more willingness for reproduction. Since it was only one of them, she opened only one of her Pokéballs allowing the release of her Kommo-o. The Dragon/Fighting-type manifested at her side, its lime green body adorned with clanging pink scale armor. It took a short second to get the gist of what it was supposed to do.

The intimidating Kommo-o didn’t intervene at first, instead simply taking a battle-ready stance. Trying instead just to deter any thoughts of aggressive actions taken towards either of Matias’ Pangoro’s.

"PANGO PANGO!"

while matias doesn't speak their language, he's insightful enough to know a battle is unavoidable. it's why he takes a step back, allowing his two pangoros the space to duke it out with the charging one.

except, only one of his pangoro engages in a battle. the other one's gaze floats over, clearly head over heels at one of the daycare's pangoro.

"uh... i guess that works."

Of all the things Elinor expected to happen, a fight was the first and foremost. Her expectations were blown away. While yes, one of the Daycare Pangoro seemed to get aggressive towards one of Matias’s Pangoro’s even with the Kommo-o trying to look intimidating enough to deter it from going full-on rampage, the Pangoro which Matias owned, well it seemed to fancy the not-aggressive Daycare Pangoro.

“Yeah. Not what I expected to happen.” She commented. “But I suppose it works?” The Kommo-o looked at its trainer, giving her a were-I-really-needed-for-this? Look. She just shrugged right back at it. Since the other two Pangoro seemed to be duking it out as one would assume they would.

with the two pangoro duking it out, it makes it much easier for matias' pangoro to approach the one owned by the daycare. sweet whispers are exchanged, and a moment later, they start another battle of their own.

a different, more delicate battle.

"well! looks like our job's done."

he sighs, looking away.

"drinks on me."

Elinor realized she could do naught but stand and watch as the situation unfolded before her eyes. One half trying to figure out who was to be the alpha, the other half well, whatever battle they were going to start on was not one meant for the prying eyes of the two trainers.

“Yeah seems so.” She nodded. This was quite possibly the weirdest job she had done or rather tried to do because she hadn’t done much at all.
